TLC's Director Contributes to new Course Baseline Practices
July 15, 2020
Faculty are used to hearing about best practices in teaching, but what practices should be expected for all courses? What practices could help Drexel courses quickly adapt to new modalities and support students' success regardless of whether it runs on-campus, in the community, or online? After the quick pivot to remote teaching in the Spring of 2020, the Provost's Office created a task force to explore this exact question. The following recommendations for baseline practices draw from Drexel student survey data regarding their experiences in remotely taught courses, and nationally recognized, faculty-driven peer-reviewed standards used to ensure the quality of online, remote, and blended courses. Implementing baseline practices in all courses at Drexel University helps us to develop more resilient and adaptable pedagogies and learning experiences for the long-term.
